My Review:
This is a wonderful book from someone who spent most of her life helping others write the stories of their lives. She now shares her life story in this unique style that makes you want to read more. She starts off telling of her childhood and the sadness she felt most of her early years. She shares some of the details of suffering from depression. Mostly she tells of the amazing journeys her and her husband shared through the many years of research and writing of such stories. And as we read her stories we realize as she said all roads lead to heaven. Amazing book I would recommend to all my friends.

Heart Wide Open

Heart Wide Open: Trading Mundane Faith for an Exuberant Life with Jesus [Kindle Edition]

Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

Book Description

March 18, 2014
You believe in God. You’re trying to serve Him.
But do you know how to truly love Him—and let Him love you?

As a Bible-believing churchgoer, author Shellie Tomlinson harbored a secret in her good-girl heart. She longed for something more than routine faith; she wanted to love God with a genuine, all-consuming passion. So she got honest with Him: “I admit it. I don’t love you like I should, but I want to love you. Help me!”

In Heart Wide Open, Shellie invites you to answer the call of your restless heart and refuse to settle for anything less than the intimate friendship of God. Through her heartfelt and honest words, you’ll find practical inspiration to help you…
·   exchange your “just enough Jesus” mindset for an all-out pursuit of Him
·   put sizzle in your Bible study by asking God to show you the wonder of His Word
·   trade formulaic devotions for a devoted life

Are you ready to stop struggling to make time for God and instead live every moment with God? Discover how to live with your heart wide open.

My Review:
This is a good book. The author is able to share in a down to earth way about how to open your heart wide to God. She shares stories of her life that helps us see  she truly understands what it is like to need a true personal relationship with God and not just going through the motions of weekly church services.
I think we all can learn something through her experience and to question do we really love God with all our heart and if not what do we do about it. If we truly seek to have a deeper walk with the Lord all we need to do is seek the Lord with all our hearts and spend time with God in prayer and study of His Word.
I would recommend this book to all my friends.

Proverbs 31

Real Women: Leading with Proverbs 31 Values Paperback

My Review:
This book is a very practical approach to the Proverbs 31 woman. It intertwines the spiritual aspect with the practical to apply 10 important principles. If you are a woman who desires to learn more about becoming a Proverbs 31 woman this book is for you. Some of the topics the book hits on is forgiveness, responsibility, generosity and honesty.
Personally I found the book difficult to get into and to keep my attention. After saying that I would recommend this book as a group study for women.

Great Resource!

The A-Z of C S Lewis: A Complete Guide to His Life, Thoughts and Writings Hardcover

A Complete Guide to His Life, Thoughts and Writings
Published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of C. S. Lewis’s death, this complete guide covers all of Lewis’ works, from his literary criticism to Narnia
C. S. Lewis’s work is widely known and regarded, but enthusiasts are often only aware of one part of his work—his children’s stories and his popular theology; and yet he wrote so much more, including science fiction and literary criticism. This volume brings together all aspects of C S Lewis’s life and thought. Arranged in alphabetical order, it begins with The Abolition of Man—written in 1943 and described as “almost my favorite”—to Wormwood, a character in The Screwtape Letters. This book will delight anyone who is interested in C. S. Lewis and wants to learn more about him, his thought, his works, and his life.

Colin Duriez was for many years a commissioning editor at Inter-Varsity Press UK. He has subsequently appeared as a commentator on DVDs of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings, and BBC television's The Worlds of Fantasy. He is also the author of "The Inklings Handbook" (with the late David Porter), "J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis: The Story of Their Friendship," and "Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings," and has contributed to definitive reference works relating to Tolkien such as "The Tolkien Encyclopedia" (Routledge).

My Review:
This is a nice book of the life and writing of one of the greats. This is strictly a reference book but covers everything. C.S. Lewis was a great writer and this book will only magnify that fact and you go through this book and realize the scope of his work.
It will encourage you to pick up one of C S Lewis's books that maybe you haven't read before. This would make a great gift for a Lewis fan.

Hopeful

Hopeful: Return to Sugarcreek, Book One Paperback
By Author Shelley Shepard Gray

In the Amish town of Sugarcreek, love comes in many forms. But will it come at all for Miriam?
Miriam Zehr has worked at the Sugarcreek Inn longer than she cares to admit. The restaurant is a favorite of town residents as well as the many tourists who come to taste the famous Amish fare. Though she always tries to have a smile for every customer, deep down Miriam knows something's missing: a family of her own.
Miriam has never felt particularly beautiful, especially because she's always been a bit heavier than other girls her age. When Junior, the man she's pined for all her life, suddenly seeks her out, she's thrilled to be noticed . . . until she realizes he's only asking her to help get the attention of Mary Kathryn Hershberger, her pretty friend.
If Miriam helps Junior court Mary Kathryn, she'll get to spend a lot of time with him, but she might lose him in the process. Are these few stolen moments worth a lifetime of sacrifice? Is Miriam right to even hope for the life she dreams of?

My Review:
This was an interesting story. The author writes in a style that makes you feel the pain of some of the characters.Although the book centers around the Amish it does not feel so Amish centered as other books. The book touches on subjects we can relate to. Subjects such as rejection, loss, miscarriage, abuse and adoption.
As you read the book you will wonder if Miriam will ever find love. Will Junior finally get Mary Kathryn or will he realize the one for him has been right in front of him the whole time. And you will wonder what is the mystery that surrounds Mary Kathryn. The moral of the book is when you have difficulties look to God and open up to family and close friends.

My Review:
The Calling was an interesting book. At first I had a difficult time getting into the book because of so many different characters but latter I couldn't put the book down. The Calling is about a youth pastor that got fired by her church so she decide to stay at a Bed and Breakfast run by an Amish family. During her stay she waiting on God to show her where she should minister next. Mean while the Amish family lives are full of intrigue and mystery. While the book has a Amish theme and does not seem to be so evident as other Amish stories. If you like a good mystery this book is for you.
